MHB's Advisory Circle of surrogacy experts expands

We are pleased to announce the joining of five new members to our Advisory Circle, which now includes eleven leading professionals. They include Dr. John Hesla from ORM, Dr. Mark Leondires from RMACT, Attorney Diane Hinson from Creative Family Connections, Staci Swiderski from Family Source Consultants, and Dr. Guy Ringler from California Fertility Partners. The eleven will participate in quarterly advisory sessions with the MHB board, receive periodic reports from our executive director and board chairman, and will be asked to provide commentary for our network on legal, medical, financial and social development that are of relevance to surrogacy and gay parenting. Italian associations call to legalize surrogacy based on the ‘international coalition for surrogacy ethics’ that emerged from MHB’s Brussels conference

On September 27th, 2016, following their participation in MHB’s Second Annual Conference on Parenting Options for European Gay Men, four Italian associations announced their support for the “international coalition for surrogacy ethics” that was formed at the Brussels conference. The four include Famiglie Arcobaleno (Italy’s LGBT parenting association), Associazione Luca Coscioni, Associazione Radicale Certi Diritti, and UAAR. They joined several other organizations from the USA, Europe and Israel that already endorsed MHB’s set of 12 parameters for the ethical use of surrogacy that were developed in collaboration with an advisory committee comprised of surrogate mothers.*

MHB’s 2nd Brussels conference marks the emergence of an international coalition for ethical and viable surrogacy legislation

For too long we let lies and distortions about surrogacy go unchallenged! There are some small groups of anti-surrogacy zealots in Europe, one of them had about a dozen protesters in front of our conference in Brussels on September 25, 2016. They held signs of pregnant women with barcodes on their bellies, and others with crossed-out babies that were supposedly sold. Read More...

Men Having Babies joined leading Dallas LGBT organizations to bring its surrogacy parenting conference to prospective gay dads across the South!

The first Men Having Babies South Surrogacy Seminar & Gay Parenting Expo took place in Dallas on Father’s Day, June 19, 2016.
For this event, MHB partnered with the Dallas Voice and several leading LGBT groups from Texas, who provided outstanding support in order to accommodate 25 Gay Parenting Expo exhibitors, and more than 150 parents, prospects, and professionals that attended

The June 19th event was based on the successful model of programs Men Having Babies has already organized in NYC, LA, San Francisco, Chicago, Brussels and Tel Aviv. It brought together under one roof community activists, experts, parents and surrogates who will share their experiences. The large event hall at the Wyndham Dallas Suites - Park Central was filled to capacity with prospective parents from all over Texas, as well as Florida, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Utah, Nevada and California.

June 18, 2016: Men Having Babies (MHB) Gay Parenting Assistance Program (GPAP) announced today that EMD Serono, the biopharmaceutical business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, in the U.S. and Canada, will provide eligible prospective gay parents with up to a 75% discount on select fertility medications for use by their surrogates when redeemed at an EMD Serono participating pharmacy.

Men Having Babies' Tel Aviv Conference Makes History

Men Having Babies' Fourth Tel Aviv Surrogacy and Fertility Conference, held March 10-11, 2016, was a new highpoint for the organization. It was not just our best-attended Israeli event yet, attracting both gay and straight Israeli intended parents, but was also highly significant in promoting public discourse and awareness about the topic in the country.

The conference was marked by the unprecedented participation of WIZO, the largest provider of social services for women, children and youth in Israel. WIZO joined our coalition of partners with the goal of bringing added awareness to the social and ethical aspects of the surrogacy process. Together with our other partners, CHEN L'pinyon and the Israeli Gay Fathers' Association, they helped stage Men Having Babies' biggest conference yet, including almost 500 intended parents, speakers, researchers and other professionals.

On November 2, 2014, Men Having Babies (MHB), the world’s only nonprofit dedicated to providing educational and financial support to current and future gay parents via surrogacy, held its largest conference ever. Hosted and co-sponsored by the JCC Manhattan, more than 250 current and future parents, surrogates, doctors, lawyers and surrogacy professionals participated in a day filled with in panels, workshops and a fair with over 30 organizations from the USA and beyond.
