The 9th Annual NY Men Having Babies -2013
Surrogacy Seminar & Gay Parenting Expo

The 2013 NYC Men Having Babies conference took place on October 6th, 2013, at the JCC in Manhattan, which also co-sponsored the event. About two hundred parents, prospects and professionals enjoyed 11 hours of educational programs. More than 30 clinics, agencies and community organizations exhibited at the expo and hosted breakout sessions, and for the first time, also offered on-site consultations. MHB provides unparalleled opportunities for any gay person considering having children through surrogacy, to get unbiased information, access a wide range of relevant service providers, and connect with others going through the process. This year the organization also added a book fair and special interest panels for gay men who are already parents, and men who are HIV positive. The conference also marked the official launch of the organization’s Gay Parenting Assistance Program.

The October 6th Men Having Babies Surrogacy Conference in NY will feature a record number of exhibitors, an expanded day-long seminar, and a special program for surrogacy parents!

The Men Having Babies educational events are unique for offering a wealth of unbiased information and resources to empower prospective parents (gay or straight) as they navigate the surrogacy process. Following the successful format of previous conferences in NY, Los Angeles, Barcelona and Tel Aviv, the upcoming conference will bring together under one roof experts, parents, egg donors and surrogates who will share their experiences. In addition, more than two-dozen clinics, agencies and community organizations from across the USA and beyond will exhibit, speak, and for the first time, be available for on-site consultations. As always, proceeds from sponsorship and exhibiting fees will benefit the Gay Parenting Assistance Program.

The conference is co-sponsored and hosted by the LGBTQ Department at the JCC in Manhattan. We are pleased that the centrally located, modern and larger JCC facility will allow us to accommodate more exhibitors and prospective parents. We will also use the opportunity to add new program components (including some that received high praise in conferences elsewhere):
  • A "Surrogacy 101" intro session for newbies.
  • On-site private consultations with clinics and surrogacy agencies.
  • A special session on "Parenting for HIV+ men".
  • A program for parents that includes a panel about "Speaking to children on surrogacy and gay parenting," a book fair, and a lunch reception with a special playroom for the little ones (prospective parents also welcome!).
Note: while the event is organized by a gay parenting organization, non-gay prospective parents are welcome and will no doubt highly benefit from it as well.
