MHB Partners With the Daddy Squared Podcast to Feature Gay Parenting Experiences Worldwide
Men Having Babies joins popular gay podcast Daddy Squared for their new “Around the World” educational season, where each episode will explore parenting options for gay men in a different country. Also, in a special “MHB Corner” in each episode, an MHB staff member will provide insights on an issue related to the community of current and future gay surrogacy dads in that country.
MHB Overcomes Pandemic Constraints to Hold a Hybrid Conference in Taipei
Against the odds, this October Men Having Babies successfully hosted hundreds of people in person in Taipei for the second annual Parenting Options for Asian Gay Men conference. Exceptional public health conditions in Taiwan created the opportunity, while innovative use of technology and diligent preparation allowed MHB to seamlessly incorporate more than 50 surrogacy and IVF experts from around the world who spoke and exhibited remotely. Meanwhile more than 200 attendees enjoyed an almost "pre-COVID" experience, alongside activists from partnering Taiwanese organizations and MHB staff (following a strict two-week quarantine). Additionally, dozens of Asian prospective parents from other countries, who originally hoped to attend in-person, attended the panels and breakout sessions online. In-person and remote attendees and speakers also benefited from real-time interpretation via the advanced Interprefy platform. The unique hybrid model was introduced by MHB to continue offering educational and financial support for prospective gay surrogacy parents worldwide, alongside specialized virtual conference technology the organization utilizes for events where public health conditions are more restrictive.
Book Guide: MHB's Essential List of Surrogacy Books for Adults and Kids
We want to share the extensive book list we created with our families and dads-to-be, and that we feature at book fairs at our conferences. Our recommended reads showcase the gay male surrogacy journey, both in the realms of literacy for children, and informative reading for prospective gay parents. Each book has been selected and screened by the team at MHB, and a summary provided for each potential reader.
MHB Leads Community Organizations to Present “The Full Case for NY Surrogacy Reform" - See Full Video Coverage
Several leading community organizations joined MHB on November 8, 2019, to present The Full Case for NY Surrogacy Reform. The program offered in-depth look at core ethical and legal issues related to the surrogacy debate in general, and in the context of the proposed "Child Parent Security Act" (CPSA), which would reverse the ban on compensated surrogacy in New York State. The co-sponsors for this event included RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association, Family Equality Council, Equality NY, Stonewall Democrats of NYC, and The Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys. The program is part of MHB’s Advocacy and Research Forum series.
Anthony Brown: My Journey with Men Having Babies
Men Having Babies has benefited from the leadership of Anthony M Brown, our board chairman, from the first days of our incorporation in 2012. His input and insight have helped us grow into the amazing organization we are now. As he steps down and leaves the board at the end of 2018, Anthony looks back in the article below at his journey with MHB. He also had an opportunity to recount some of these landmarks and insights at "mini-documentary" our gifted videographer Alex Harris created recently: "The Journey Starts Here". Anthony will still be a familiar face at some of our annual conferences and in our community.
