Over a hundred (vaccinated!) gay men and allies gathered in person on October 9, 2021, to learn how they can have children through IVF and surrogacy at MHB's 2021 Midwest Surrogacy Conference & Expo. Known for its unbiased, comprehensive conferences for gay men, the nonprofit Men Having Babies (MHB) returned to Chicago in cooperation with The Center on Halsted, along with over 20 gay-friendly surrogacy providers, just as a first-in-the-nation Illinois law is likely to make this process considerably more affordable for same-sex couples and singles.

MHB Announces Vaccinated-Only In-Person Surrogacy and Gay Parenting Conferences Starting September

Men Having Babies has announced that its in-person conferences, resuming this September, will accommodate only fully-vaccinated participants. In addition, MHB is introducing a range of additional measures to promote the safety of our community, including on-site rapid testing to staff, speakers and exhibitors, indoor masking in programs where social distancing protocols are hard to follow (such as plenary sessions), and safe catering protocols to minimize potential exposure during meals.

Israel’s Approval of Surrogacy for Gay and Single Men Creates a Global Precedent

A significant boost to the Fertility Equality cause has been given by Israel's High Court rule on Sunday that the country’s surrogacy ban for same-sex couples and single men is unconstitutional. In its ruling, the court explicitly stated, “The equivalent group [to same sex couples and single men] with regards to surrogacy is everyone that is suffering from medical infertility that can only be overcome by resorting to surrogacy.”

MHB Overcomes Pandemic Constraints to Hold a Hybrid Conference in Taipei

Against the odds, this October Men Having Babies successfully hosted hundreds of people in person in Taipei for the second annual Parenting Options for Asian Gay Men conference. Exceptional public health conditions in Taiwan created the opportunity, while innovative use of technology and diligent preparation allowed MHB to seamlessly incorporate more than 50 surrogacy and IVF experts from around the world who spoke and exhibited remotely. Meanwhile more than 200 attendees enjoyed an almost "pre-COVID" experience, alongside activists from partnering Taiwanese organizations and MHB staff (following a strict two-week quarantine). Additionally, dozens of Asian prospective parents from other countries, who originally hoped to attend in-person, attended the panels and breakout sessions online. In-person and remote attendees and speakers also benefited from real-time interpretation via the advanced Interprefy platform. The unique hybrid model was introduced by MHB to continue offering educational and financial support for prospective gay surrogacy parents worldwide, alongside specialized virtual conference technology the organization utilizes for events where public health conditions are more restrictive.

The 2019 MHB Report card

As 2019 is drawing to a close, we gathered some statistics about the year that passed. We were happy to welcome a significantly larger number of attendees at our conferences and workshops, and almost 100 conference sponsors. In addition, the Gay Parenting Assistance Program (GPAP) has helped 330 couples this year and to date we have 36 babies that were born to Stage II fathers! Furthermore, MHB has worked extremely hard to raise awareness with dozens of partners and getting involved in research and advocacy groups worldwide.

MHB's 6th annual Tel Aviv Surrogacy conference is offered in cooperation with the Association of Israeli Gay Fathers

Men Having Babies' 6th Tel Aviv Surrogacy Conference, to be held December 7-8, 2018, is the culmination of a year-long series of well-attended workshops MHB has been leading in cooperation with the Association of Israeli Gay Fathers (AIGF) .

The conference is structured to offer opportunities for the attendees to learn about a select group of surrogacy providers directly and through several expert panels (see agenda below). The net proceeds from sponsorship revenues will benefit the AIGF and our joint Gay Parenting Assistance Program (GPAP).
