Elizabeth Barbieri, M.D.
Dr. Barbieri is one of the lead physician-partners at Oregon Reproductive Medicine (ORM) – recognized globally for its success rates and for being among the top 3 IVF programs in the US for donor egg surrogacy by number of cycles annually. She is highly respected for her personalized care and experience building families through IVF, egg donation, surrogacy and reproductive genomics. She is instrumental in the high medical standards within ORM Donors and ORM Surrogacy. She has a particular interest in pre-implantation genetic diagnostics and is a lead physician directing ORM Genomics. She joined ORM in 2009. Dr. Barbieri is a board-certiﬁed reproductive endocrinologist. She holds a bachelor degree with distinction from Yale University, and completed her medical training at University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Northwestern University McGaw Medical Center, and the Weill Cornell Center for Reproductive Medicine. She is honored to work with LGBTQ families across the US and globally, and is committed to helping all her patients achieve their dream of a healthy baby on their first attempt.
Tracy Crain, M.S.
Tracy E. Crain is an LPC and LPC Board Supervisor as well as an LCDC licensed by the state of Texas. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree from Central Michigan University and her graduate work and Master’s Degree at The Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. She owned and operated three treatment centers in the DFW area before going into private practice in Colleyville and Southlake, Texas, six years ago. After experiencing her own challenges with infertility, she decided to include those managing and coping with infertility as a part of her private practice. Tracy has the knowledge, personal experience and compassion for reproductive medicine and building families from a mental health capacity. She has over six years’ experience assessing, evaluating and counseling gestational carriers, intended parents and egg donors. She has had the privilege of working with the most reputable and successful doctors, agencies and clients throughout the United States and overseas. She is the proud mother of a recent kindergarten graduate and enjoys her family, traveling and reading.
Lauren Gaydos Duffer, Esq.
Attorney Lauren was named a Top Family Attorney in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 by Fort Worth, Texas Magazine and was named a Rising Star Attorney in 2010 and 2011 by Texas Monthly Magazine. Mary M. Fusillo, RN, BSN, MS
Mary Fusillo is the Chief Executive Officer for 3 Sisters Surrogacy. With 28 years of healthcare experience and 19 in Fertility and Third Party Parenting, Mary understands the complex emotional, psychological, medical and financial issues surrounding gestational surrogacy and third party parenting. With many years of tertiary care hospital management as well as Infertility clinic management experience as well as Healthcare consulting, Mary can assist you with managing the complex legal and medical decision making in choosing to use a gestational carrier to start or expand your family. With degrees in Journalism/Public Relations, Public Health Administration and Nursing, Mary's unique educational and professional experience assists you in making the entire process, from initial complementary consultation through the birth of your child.
Jerald S. Goldstein, M.D.
Founder and medical director of Fertility Specialists of Texas, Dr. Jerald S. Goldstein is a native Texan who received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas. He is board certified in both obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Goldstein was an assistant professor in the division of reproductive endocrinology at Washington University Medical Center, St. Louis. He has presented before numerous medical conferences and published in such peer-reviewed journals as Fertility and Sterility and Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Goldstein is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Goldstein has repeatedly been recognized by peers and patients alike as a leader in his field. He has been voted a Best Doctor in D Magazine, most recently in 2016, as well as listed as a top doctor in several publications including Texas Monthly’s annual list of Super Doctors.
Heather Jacobson, Ph.D.
Heather Jacobson is Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Texas at Arlington where she directs the Master’s in Sociology Program and teaches courses on families, reproduction, and qualitative research methods. She is also an affiliated faculty member of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Brandeis University and an MPhil in Women’s Studies from Trinity College Dublin. She is a family sociologist whose research centers primarily on various routes to family formation. She is the author of Labor of Love: Gestational Surrogacy and the Work of Making Babies, published by Rutgers University Press in 2016, and Culture Keeping: White Mothers, International Adoption, and the Negotiation of Family Difference, published by Vanderbilt University Press in 2008. Her work has been featured on the National Public Radio program Think and in The Boston Globe, Contexts, Brain Child Magazine and the radio program Creating a Family: Talk about Adoption and Infertility. She serves on the editorial board of the journal Adoption Quarterly.
Nir Keren, originally from Israel now lives in Toronto, Canada with his partner Bob. Nir has assisted several of his friends throughout their surrogacy journeys, in different countries which has opened his eyes to the many challenges intended parents are facing to create their families. Nir's background is in business improvment and marketing however after seeing first hand the obstacles international IP's endure, he felt that his mission and passion is to bring the awareness of the Canadian surrogacy option to IP's seeking alternative options. He has now dedicated his life to support IP's around the world to have a smooth and straight-forward journey in Canada. Alongside Dr. Librach and The CReATe Fertility Centre, he has now established 'Babies Come True', a concierge service in Canada that will help and support international IP's throughout their surrogacy journey. Nir and his husband are currently going through the process of surrogacy in Canada themselves and love to share their story.
Mark P. Leondires, M.D.
Dr. Leondires, founder and Medical Director at Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut and Gay Parents To Be, is board-certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI). Dr. Leondires received his medical degree from the University Of Vermont, and completed his residency in OBGYN at Maine Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in REI at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He fulfilled his military obligation by serving as the ART Director at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. His professional society memberships include the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists, the American College of OBGYN, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Leondires has been selected a Best Doctor in America, a Top Doc by Castle Connolly, and was the 2015 Path to Parenthood Visionary Award Recipient for his outstanding commitment to patient care and building families. He is a speaker at many medical & advocacy conferences. Dr. Leondires and his husband have two children through egg donation and surrogacy. He is proud to help others achieve their family building dreams, and feels strongly that if one desires to have a family, all hurdles are surmountable and the joys boundless.
Patricia McBride-Houtz, Ph.D.
Patricia McBride-Houtz, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist who specializes in treating the stress and emotional trauma associated with infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss. Dr. McBride also consults with Intended Parents and evaluates Gestational Carriers and Egg Donors to increase the likelihood of a successful journey to parenthood. Dr. McBride has practiced as a health psychologist for twenty-three years. She joined the Center for Assisted Reproduction Excellence (CARE) in 2008. Dr. McBride completed her master’s degree and doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas in 1993. Dr. McBride completed her internship in Medical/Rehabilitation Psychology at the VA North Texas Healthcare System in Dallas and received postdoctoral training in behavioral medicine interventions used to treat the psychological stress associated with chronic disease. Dr. McBride also received professional training under Dr. Alice Domar, founder and Director of the world-renowned Mind/Body program for infertility associated with Boston IVF. After experiencing her own journey with infertility, Dr. McBride made the decision to specialize in reproductive trauma and third-party psychological assessment and consultation.
Lori S. Meyers, Esq.
Lori Meyers is a California attorney with 18 years experience in third party reproductive law. Lori is a partner at The Law Firm of Meyers & O’Hara, LLP. Lori first researched the area of surrogacy and reproductive law for a close friend in 1995 and never left the field. She believes in maintaining close contact throughout the process of the arrangement, and works hard to build relationships with her clients so that all legal aspects are completed with confidence. Lori has built a strong reputation for creating open, trusting relationships with her clients. As a team, Lori and Milena work closely with clients all over the world, whether Intended Parents, Surrogates or the Donors, to ensure all aspects of the arrangements have been addressed prior to the start of any given cycle and the long-awaited delivery of their child.
Kim Monroe has over 15 years of experience in reproductive healthcare, with a focus on the intersection of genetics and fertility. She has built her career on building relationships with organizations that are devoted to delivering excellent care to everyone’s definition of family. At GenePeeks, Kim helps bring the most advanced genetic screening to intended parents through partnerships with top donor agencies and clinics. Kim received her Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from Webster University and completed her Medical Technology Internship at Washington University.
John Norian, M.D.
Dr. John Norian, double board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons, completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine program in New York and his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. His philosophy in helping couples realize their dream of having a family combines both the precision and science of reproductive medicine with a warm and compassionate style of doctoring. Successful fertility treatments involve a high level of scientific knowledge, an advanced embryology lab, and also the ability to warmly develop and carry out a patient-centered treatment plan. He is passionate about helping men achieve their goals of family building. His expertise includes IVF, IVF with donor oocytes, and gestational surrogacy.
Guy Ringler, M.D.
In clinical practice for over twenty years, Dr. Guy Ringler has developed a large international referral practice due to his excellent patient rapport and expertise in IVF, surrogacy, and gay family building. As one of the world’s first fertility doctors to help gay men become fathers through egg donation and surrogacy, Dr. Ringler has been recognized by the American Fertility Association (AFA) with an Achievement Award. He regularly lends his voice to the public conversation about gay family-building as a spokesperson for GLAAD and a contributor to the Huffington Post. Dr. Ringler has worked closely with the AFA to increase public awareness of fertility options for people with HIV, and he has helped many HIV-positive people have children through assisted reproduction. Dr. Ringler is on the advisory board of Men Having Babies and lives in Los Angeles with his husband, Mark Rios.
Steven H. Snyder, Esq.
Steven H. Snyder, Esq., is the founding and principal partner of Steven H. Snyder & Associates in Maple Grove, Minnesota. He is also the Director of the International Assisted Reproduction Center (IARC), a U.S. surrogacy and egg donation matching agency. Mr. Snyder is an active leader in numerous professional organizations, including RESOLVE, the American Fertility Association, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, and the American Bar Association Assisted Reproductive Technology Committee. Mr. Snyder is an expert and a frequent national and international speaker on assisted reproductive technology topics.
Laura Alabre, Events Coordinator and GPAP Case Manager
Laura joined Men Having Babies in February 2017 as the organization was welcoming the fourth “class” of Stage II Gay Parenting Assistance Program (GPAP) recipients. Laura’s responsibilities include Stage II GPAP case management and coordination of the selection and matching process. She also provides support in conference production and coordination. Prior to that she worked at CT Fertility as the Third Party Journey Coordinator, Egg Donor Matching Coordinator as well as a liaison to Israeli patients. Laura has also previously been a known egg donor to several couples all over the world to support their dreams of becoming parents, because having children has been her most treasured life experience. She lives in Connecticut with her two amazing children, Malia and Jordan.
Michelle Pine, Board Member, Chair of the Surrogates Advisory Committee
Michelle Pine is a special education teacher for students with mild disabilities at an alternative high school in Klamath Falls, Oregon, having previously taught special education and Language Arts in Portland. Michelle holds two Masters in Education from Concordia University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Eastern Oregon University. When not working, Michelle enjoys reading and writing and spending time with her family exploring Oregon. Michelle was a gestational surrogate for a same-sex couple from Israel in 2015, and has recently begun a second journey with a serodiscordant couple from San Francisco. She and her husband have three amazing children, all who played an important role in her first surrogacy journey and are equally excited about the next one.
Ron Poole-Dayan, Board Member / Executive Director
Ron is the executive director and founding board member of Men Having Babies. He has over 20 years of experience in marketing and business strategy development both in the USA and internationally. Ron earned his Masters degree in political economy and comparative politics from Columbia University, and his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Ron is married to Greg Poole-Dayan, the COO of the Wartburg, a leading provider of senior healthcare and residential services in NY. The couple met in 1994, and is among of the first same-sex couples in the nation to father children through gestational surrogacy. The twins, born in 2001, were conceived with the use of eggs donated by Greg's sister, and carried by a gestational carrier. Ron has been the MHB program coordinator since 2005, and was appointed as the Executive Director of Men Having Babies upon its incorporation in July 2012.
Georges Sylvestre, M.D., Board Member
Georges Sylvestre is an Obstetrician/Gynecologist specialized in High-Risk Pregnancies, currently Chairman of OBGYN at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Queens. Georges and his husband David Margolis live in Manhattan, and are the proud fathers of Tristan and Noah, born in 2010 and 2013 via gestational surrogacy. Having grown up in France, Canada and Switzerland, the Sylvestre-Margolis boys speak French and English at home, and has traveled extensively across the world, making a point of meeting other LGBT gay couples raising children. Georges' profession and personal experience give him a unique advantage in understanding the medical, psychological, ethical and financial challenges of the IP/couple –egg donor – Gestational surrogate triad.
Sherman L. Taylor II, board member
Sherman is a technology manager in the Research & Development organization of Procter & Gamble, based in Cincinnati, OH. Sherman received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and Colloids, Polymers and Surfaces from Carnegie Mellon University. Sherman leads of group of scientists and engineers to create new and improved consumer products; he has worked across a variety of brands in his career including Pampers, Vicks, PuR, Swiffer, Magic Erasers, Bounce and Downy. Sherman also leads the design of corporate training programs to accelerate the growth and development of New Hires upon entering the company. Sherman and his husband Andrew have a son via surrogacy, born in 2013.
Michael Wetson, board member / treasurer
Michael is co-owner and Director of Professional Service Delivery for Inscio, LLC, a Dallas-based consulting firm specializing in connecting information with people via NetSuite and other leading solutions. Michael Wetson’s first experience with surrogacy began as he and his husband Shawn started their journey in 2012. Their twins, Olivia and Sawyer, were born via an anonymous egg donor and Gestational Surrogate in 2013. When not chasing the twins around the house or resolving employee and customer requests, Michael and Shawn enjoy running (or napping, whichever task wins the toss). Michael is a graduate of the University of Kansas, has mentored several gay couples as they began their own journey, and has been an outspoken advocate for gay families for the past several years.
Jay Cook, RN
Jay Cook is co-owner and co-founder of Same Love Surrogacy, a full service gay owned and operated egg donor and surrogacy agency based in West Hollywood, CA. Jay partnered with his husband Danny Wong and close friend Brad Spencer for the inspiration of Same Love Surrogacy – the personal experience of three gay dads who created their families via surrogacy and egg donation. What all this personal experience taught us is that more and more LGBTQ individuals are seeking to become parents via assisted reproductive technology, and we want to assist intending parents through their journey to parenthood while giving back to the LGBTQ community. Jay was born in Michigan and has resided in Los Angeles, CA for the past 20 years with his husband and twin boys. He has worked as a health club manager and registered nurse. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Fitness Management and an Associates degree in Nursing. Jay utilizes his management and medical experience as a unique blend to assist LGBTQ in the creation of families.
Robert Kaufmann, M.D., HCLD
Dr. Kaufmann is one of the top board-certified reproductive endocrinologist in Texas specializing in fertility care ranging from intrauterine insemination to in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). Nationally recognized as a leader in IVF for high successful donor and third-party gestational surrogacy programs, Dr. Kaufmann continually invests considerable resources and his passion for this specialty into establishing the most comprehensive infertility program in the nation. Dr. Kaufmann changed the landscape of reproductive medicine with his research contributions and academic leadership. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Kaufmann leads a recognized team of physicians, nurses, embryologists and support staff providing personalized patient care across the globe. Fort Worth Fertility demonstrates an extensive and proven track record with over 1,600 gestational carrier cycles and 2,500 PGD cases. Dr. Kaufmann has been recognized annually by both peers and patients. Susanna Park, M.D.
World renowned for her fertility expertise, IVF success and excellence in medical care, Dr. Susanna Park has practiced as an infertility physician for the past 15 years. Dr. Park joined the San Diego Fertility Center in 2012 following her tenure at Columbia University in New York City. Her passion is to combine her extensive experience as an infertility physician with individualized care and compassion. Dr. Park is double board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She graduated summa cum laude from Siena College and obtained her medical degree at Albany Medical College. Dr. Park completed her residency and her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Park has developed a large international referral practice due to her excellent patient rapport, high success rates, and fluency in Spanish and Korean. Dr. Park works closely with the leading egg donor and surrogacy agencies to assist the LGBT community build families.
Stephanie Scott is the Executive Program Director at Simple Surrogacy. Stephanie is responsible for the initial screening of all Intended Parents, Surrogates, and Egg Donors who apply with our program. She reviews all new applicant profiles, records, references, insurance policies, and ensures all applicant background investigations have been completed and cleared before matching within our program (investigation includes a search of both Federal and State criminal records, as well as a Residential History and Social Security Verification). She also ensures that the surrogates in our program have optimal medical coverage to cover the pregnancy and delivery and arranges for all parties to obtain a life insurance policy.
Staci Swiderski, CEO and Co-founder of Family Source Consultants has more than 15 years experience in Third Party Reproduction. Staci oversees the company to ensure values are applied consistently from top to bottom, across all departments by implementing the agencies vision, mission and overall direction. Being a former Intended Mother herself, as well as a known egg donor twice, Staci has the passion, knowledge and personal experience related to reproductive medicine and family building. In her free time, Staci enjoys reading, spending time with family, traveling and keeping up with the latest technologies.
